GNOMES WANTING A HOME!

Today was good walking conditions - dry, not so cold, but dull with a certain stillness and eeriness about it.  We covered familiar territory around Shepton - Collett Park, Barren Down, the High Street and the Market Place with the Friday market being set up.

There is always something new to see in the High Street and it is constantly changing.  We loved these cheeky gnomes (hear, speak and see no evil), which were in a charity shop, seeking a new home!...  Unfortunately, we are losing Fred's Shop, a treasure trove of household bits and pieces at the bottom of Town Street, which is closing at the end of the month.  But at the top of the High Street, one of the empty shops has been taken over by Solicitors, Lyons Bowe, who are expanding their offices to specialise in conveyancing and property law in Shepton (see above right).

On Barren Down we heard plenty of birds singing!  It is a pleasure to go up to this common land, which is on Shepton's doorstep and popular with dog walkers!  It always looks different, according to the season and weather, as does Collett Park, also pictured here. We managed to co-ordinate our outfits today, which provided a touch of colour to an otherwise grey day!
