Today Belinda, Jenny and I went to Pilton, a village close to Shepton, for our walk. It is an interesting place with some buildings of note. Apart from some lovely houses and cottages, there is the restored 14th century Tithe Barn, a large church, commemorative stone bench and a purpose built village hall (see photographs above). We had a look inside the Tithe Barn, which as you can see in the middle photograph, is very dark as it has no windows, only narrow slits! It is a fabulous space which can be rented out for a typical figure of £2000 a day...
It was a bright, but chilly morning with frost underfoot. We followed footpaths and lanes around Pilton, ending up on Worthy Farm, home of the famous Glastonbury Festival. There are signs of the festival around, including the framework of the Pyramid Stage - see below.
Jenny is upset that she cannot get hold of any tickets for next year's festival. She has tried logging on to the site as soon as they are available, but they sell out to people from all over the world in minutes. Locals don't seem to get a look in these days! Jenny has been and done voluntary work at the festival many times. In fact, she remembers going to the first one which was held at the Bath and West Showground, before it moved to Worthy Farm!
