FREEZING FRIDAY!

This morning was our coldest one yet - it was freezing!  The pavements sparkled with deadly, slippery intent, and I was nearly a goner straight away!  We had to hang onto some railings along a pathway towards Collett Park and walk gingerly along. Jenny was particularly concerned as she had a long car journey ahead to get to her beauty course.  We had to make our walk short as she needed to defrost her car and have the tyres checked before she went...

Shepton Market setting up in the cold and dark!

We went to look at Shepton Market setting up in the dark.  It was good to see the fish stall back after their Christmas break.  The market has been increasing in size and popularity, due to the efforts of Helen Reader, who sells handmade cards. She started the 'suitcase' ladies (small stalls that do not pay as much as the larger ones), and has managed to persuade the council to provide free parking, on a trial basis, every Friday to improve the footfall.  It seems to be working - I was serving in the gallery today, which is right by the market, and we had more people in today than on other days this week...

Collett Park, Shepton Mallet Bowls Club and Jenny looking at the frost needed to be scraped off her car before her trip!

We walked back to the park, which looks beautiful, whatever the weather, past the allotments and Shepton Mallet Bowls Club.  The hedge has been severely cut so we can have a good look at the manicured greens and well looked after grounds!  I shall be walking on my own again on Monday as Jenny won't be back by then. However, when she does return, I am sure she will have plenty to say!!
