DROWNED RATS!

I think Jenny spoke too soon about the summer, as today was definitely  drowned rat weather! Well, it was forecast ...  Being all-weather walkers that didn't deter us, although waterproof trousers would have been a good idea when we walked through some high undergrowth!

We ended up at the Market Place and as it was market day, the traders were setting up. I feel sorry for them in these conditions, as it must effect sales and be miserable. However, everybody was cheerful and friendly as we walked past, and at least the plant sellers won't have to do any watering!

The fields were strangely beautiful, with an almost purple haze, which on closer inspection was caused with drops of rain caught up in the fine, lacy grasses.  These photos don't do them justice.  As you can see, we are never very far from one of Shepton's landmarks and in this case, it is the Charlton Viaduct, one of three, built originally to house single tract railways.

One drowned rat returns home!
